This month, we got to get full insight into the Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian Wedding!
Their wedding was nothing short of beautiful with décor expressing stunning classical romantic and modern fashion runway crossovers. There were many other surprises that came along the way, including a variety of celebrity guests (Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki to name a few!), sneak peeks of the gorgeous designs and table setting and a bridal outfit change – 3 to be exact!
So what inspiration can we gain from this Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian Wedding? It seems Serena has taken a few key ideas from a variety of different eras and styles. As you can tell from her gorgeous wedding arch at the altar, the classic floral themes are clear! The warm glow of white, yellow and pink flowers draws attention to the space and contrasts with the darkened hall. This gives a lovely and modern juxtaposition with something timeless like flowers with something edgy and new like a monochrome chic runway.
As the preparations for this New Orleans wedding were underway, we got to see some sneak-peaks of the wedding décor coming in. White was a clear theme, and who doesn’t like white? White is a perfection statement colour for a wedding and goes well with whatever colours you’d like to feature on your special day. White also suits both classic and modern styles, which Serena decided to blend. The vintage engraved seats with the contemporary draping curtain effect created a whole new world for Serena, Alexis and their guests, which is exactly what a wedding should do!
The table setting is also another important factor to any wedding – and this Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian Wedding hit the nail on the head, combining elegances with fun!
On Serena’s snapchat, we got a front-row view of the stunning table setting. The first thing to catch your eye is the name card, which has a popular modern calligraphy font that we all seem to see on our wedding Pinterest boards! It’s chic, simple and a take on the classic calligraphy. This contemporary addition coupled with beautiful pink tulips adds that hint of uniqueness to the overall design. It’s simple, stunning and modern – which surprisingly pairs well with the vintage side of things!
Now, onto the main event – the wedding dress of course! At the Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian Wedding, Serena decided to go with not just one wedding dress for her big day, but three! You may think three is excessive, but, there may be some logic behind this one.
Firstly, you need a dress to walk down the aisle in – obviously! Serena chose a classic design for her first appearance – a strapless ballgown with a lace cape to match. This first impression was one of princess fantasy – the dress you’d wished to be married in as a child.
Her second was a slightly lighter dress, something simple and easy to move around in but nonetheless absolutely gorgeous. It was reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour, which really played on a jazzy and vintage theme. It was a perfect dress to have a dance or mingle in!
Her third and final dress had a great purpose – to dance in! It was short, chic and gave plenty of leg room. Plus, it was an extremely edgy and modern choice for a wedding dress, but was very elegant and beautiful just the same.
There you have it – a complete rundown of the Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian Wedding! Here at Melbourne Bride Expos, we hope you’ve gained some inspiration from this fairytale wedding and wish Serena and Alexis all the happiness the deserve!
